- Position Title: Operations Manager
- Reports To:
Refuge Farms Executive Director
Position Description: The spirit of Refuge Farms is set and reinforced by the leadership exemplified by the actions and attitude of the Operations Manager. The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the management of Refuge Farms while providing positive leadership and encouragement to the volunteers. The Operations Manager will also represent Refuge Farms at presentations and other public events to enlighten people about the missions of Refuge Farms.
Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Manage and oversee the daily tasks needed to maintain the operations of
Refuge Farms through the supervision of the coordinators
Provide positive leadership in support of staff and volunteers ofRefuge Farms, as needed
Be accountable for some events and give support to all others
Research and develop new opportunities for Refuge Farms
Maintain The Ways of THE FARM and associated documents on the website
Consistently train and re-enforce The Ways of THE FARM
Handle crises situations as they arise
Give presentations to support and develop Refuge Farms missions
Broaden knowledge of horse care and deviancies from "normal"
Other task and activities, as assigned
Assist the Executive Director in the administration of Refuge Farms, including programs, personnel, agency operations and finances
Responsible for the orientation, evaluation and supervision of coordinator staff, program maintenance and development
Assist in the development of new programs and services to insure that the needs of individuals of all abilities are being identified and met, including writing and developing grant applications for new programs
Assist the Executive Director in all aspects of Refuge Farms operations
Special Events Accountable to Host:
- Spring/Easter Applebee's® Breakfast
- Volunteer Appreciation Day (with Executive Director)
- Country Jam
- One (1) of five (5) Annual Day Camps
- Open Barn (Barns)
- Winter/Christmas Applebee's® Breakfast
- Santa at THE FARM
Qualifications:
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, Publisher, Internet)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Farm experience preferred
- Ability to work with staff
- Ability to train and motivate volunteers and coordinators
- Good leadership skills
- Strong spiritual belief
- Willingness to share experiences and beliefs in Blog
Organizational Ethics:
- Honesty: Straightforward and honest communication with
Refuge Farms management team. Always have or get the correct facts and people involved before continuing with a conversation having anything to do with THE FARM. Remain honest with self.
Conformance to The Ways of THE FARM: Always be aware of any changes that need to be addressed, additional guide lines or expectations that are not reasonable; lead to assure compliance.
Leadership by Example: To always be positive with the coordinators, volunteers, and the public.

Spiritual Base: A personal and well-established belief in a Greater Being bringing an optimistic and positive impact to the mission.
Personal Contributions:
- Non-public hours: 20 hours per week
